悪霊を退治中に10万ボルトの電流に感電したディーンは心臓発作を起こし、あと2週間の命と宣告される。ネブラスカの教会にいる、現代医学に見放された患者を完治するという噂の牧師ロイのもとへディーンを連れて行くサム。ロイの手がディーンの額に触るとディーンは気絶してしまう。翌日、病院に行き検査をしてもらうとディーンは完治していた。しかしディーンは同年齢のマーシャルという男がディーンが気絶したのとまったく同じ時間に心臓の発作で急死したという話に興味を持つ。マーシャルはディーンの身代わりに死んでしまったのではないのか…？
