国際刑事警察機構インターポールから発せられる特別命令を受け、解決困難な事件に立ち向かう３人の特命捜査官の物語。その３人とは、サーの称号を持つ指揮官カーティス・セレステ卿の下に集められた、個性豊かな面々だ。ジェイソン・キングは著名なミステリー作家。彼は独自の創造的な方法を用い任務を果たす。自身の執筆する小説の主人公、マーク・ケインが似たような状況に直面したらどう対処するか？という視点から答えを見出すのだ。
