大手広告代理店の経営者一家チャドウィック家の令嬢べスは、会社の社長であり兄のブライスから恋人ピーターとの別れを強要されたことで、兄の殺害を計画する。べスは兄を射殺し、窓から侵入したように見せかけて、泥棒と間違えたと主張する。コロンボは、被害者が玄関から入ったという証拠を見つけだそうとするが……。
