実在のカリスマ・プロデューサー、ラリー・デイヴィッドの揉め事まみれの日常を自らが演じるユニークでシニカルなフェイク・ドキュメンタリー･コメディ。
定期的に、親友リチャードから勧められたセラピストに通っているラリー。ある日、同じく患者の映画監督、ロブ・ライナーに「グローツ症候群」という病気の研究費用を集めるチャリティ・オークションに参加するよう頼まれる。ラリーと昼食を共にする権利を売るのだ。ラリーは「誰も自分と食事なんてしたがらない」と最初は拒むが、結局オッケーすることに。オークションの結果、ラリーはジョンという人物とランチを共にする事に。4000ドルを払った彼を楽しませようと、ラリーは喋り続けるが、いつものように相手の気を悪くするばかりで…。
