オハイオ州ののどかな町ローワーカナンで殺人事件が発生する。頭部を鈍器で殴られ、死後、腹部に複数の穴をあけられるという手口は、十年前に起きた連続殺人事件と酷似していた。だが十ヵ月の間に六人殺した犯人「エンジェルメーカー」ことコートランド・ライアンはちょうど一年前に処刑されていた。ＢＡＵは模倣犯の犯行と推理し、捜査に乗り出す。
