インターポールの有能な捜査官３人が次々に奇怪な死を遂げるという事件が起きる。１人は車ごと断崖から落ち、１人は疾走中の列車のデッキから外へ身を躍らせ、そして最後の１人は、走ってくる車に故意に身を投げ…いずれも即死した。クレイグたちも調査に乗り出すが、インターポールが行った調査報告以外の新しい事実を１つも見出せないまま、捜査は暗礁に乗り上げる。
