米NBCが「LAW & ORDER」、「LAW & ORDER: 性犯罪特捜班」の新シーズン更新を発表した。両シリーズは今秋以降、それぞれシーズン25、シーズン27を迎える。
米TVでも屈指の人気シリーズの更新は当然と言えば当然だ。NBCが所有する配信サービスPeacockでも両シリーズはトップクラスの視聴者数を稼いでいる。共に25シーズンを超えてもなお同ネットワークを代表するシリーズなのだ。
とりわけ「LAW & ORDER: 性犯罪特捜班」は、米TV界のユニコーンとも言われている特別なシリーズ。社会的アイコンになりつつある主演のマリスカ・ハージティの出演料は一話当たり75万ドルだという。
となると、キャストの出演料を含む製作費は巨額。「LAW & ORDER: 性犯罪特捜班」の一話当たり製作費は、TVでは異例の500万ドルから600万ドルだという。
もちろん配信サービスとなれば話は別だ。最も製作費がかかったとされるのは、アマゾンプライムの「ロード・オブ・ザ・リング: 力の指輪」で、なんと一話当たり5800万ドル。アマゾンプライムやネットフリックスなど配信サービスでは、一話当たりの製作費が1000万ドルを超えるドラマシリーズは珍しくないのだ。ちなみにケーブルネットワークFXで放送および米Huluで配信された「SHOGUN 将軍」は一話当たり2500万ドルだったとか。
これらの配信サービスはさておき、従来の広告型で製作されているTV界はどのネットワークも製作費を縮小傾向だという。
「LAW & ORDER: 性犯罪特捜班」も例外ではなく、シーズン23から出演中のオクタビオ・ピサーノ、そしてシーズン26で加入したばかりのジュリアナ・マルティネスは共に降板が発表されている。
さらに「LAW & ORDER」はより深刻な製作費の見直しが行われる模様。トニー・ゴールドウィンやヒュー・ダンシー、モーラ・ティアニーらTVの主演級が揃っているだけに出演料が製作費を圧迫しており、主要キャストの出演シーンを減らす、もしくは出演料をカットする可能性もあるという。
厳しい時代を迎えているTVの世界だが、「LAW & ORDER」「LAW & ORDER: 性犯罪特捜班」には長年の熱心な視聴者が多く存在している。配信での新しいファン獲得をてこに、これからも安定したクオリティでの放送を期待したい。
