「レバレッジ ～詐欺師たちの流儀」の天才ハッカーといえば、ハーディソン。演じるオルディス・ホッジは今や売れっ子スター、映画『ブラックアダム』や配信シリーズ「アレックス・クロス ～狙われた刑事～」での好演も記憶に新しい。
続編となる「レバレッジ 詐欺師たちの償い」では、オルディスのスケジュールの都合からレギュラー出演が難しくなり、代わりに"二代目ハッカー"の座を引き継いだのがブレアナ役のアリース・シャノン。
同じ里親家族の元で育った血のつながりのない、兄ハーディソンと妹のブレアナ。二人の兄妹ゲンカは微笑ましく、「レバレッジ 詐欺師たちの償い」ファンのお楽しみの一つでもある。
アリースは米エンタメサイトのインタビューに答え、オルディスの気遣いを明かす。
「オリジナルのキャストから直接キャラクターを譲り受けるなんて滅多にないことですが、オルディスは、ブレアナが他のオリジナルのキャラクターたちと馴染めるよう気遣ってくれました。彼は本当に心の優しい人です。オルディスファンの皆さんにも、私のことを好きになってほしいというメッセージになったと思います」
ブレアナに対するハーディソンの思いやりは画面から伝わっている。オリジナルのファンだって二代目ハッカーを応援したくなることだろう。そして共演者も同じこと。
「私はまだキャリアが浅いので、クリスチャン・ケイン、ノア・ワイリー、ジーナ・ベルマンやベス・リースグラフからたくさん教えてもらっています」
共演者はベテラン揃い、先輩俳優たちからのちょっとしたアドバイスがアリースにとって何にも代えがたい指導となっている。
「同じシーンを演じるとしても、人には個性があります。二人として同じではありません。そういった経験ができることを有難く感じます。皆それぞれ違ったやり方で人をうならせたり、笑わせたりするんです」
シーズンを重ね、チームにすっかり馴染んだアリース。チームワークが良くなればなるほど、「レバレッジ 詐欺師たちの償い」は楽しくなる。偉大なる"兄"に追いつくのももうすぐだ。
