若者で賑わうナイトクラブのトイレの天井から、死体が落下する。遺体の身元は海軍兵曹ゴードン。ダッキーの検視で、ゴードンは車にはねられて死亡したあと、服を着せられて天井に隠されたことが分かる。さらにゴードンの部屋から４万ドルの現金が見つかり、彼が何らかのトラブルに巻き込まれていたことが考えられたが……。
