ダンとヴァネッサがネイトの家を訪ねると、ちょうどネイトのいとこトリップがヴァンダービルト家の集まりに来るよう、ネイトを説得しているところだった。だが、家族の窮地に手を差し伸べてくれなかった親戚と顔を合わせたくないネイトは、誘いを断る。そんなネイトにヴァネッサは、本心では親戚を大切に思っているのだから会うべきだと主張する。
