「NCIS: ニューオーリンズ」で、NCISニューオーリンズ支局のリーダー、ドウェイン・プライド捜査官を演じている、スコット・バクラ。プライドは優秀な捜査官であるだけでなく、チームを家族のように扱い、仲間のためなら規則違反もいとわない、情に厚いボスとしても描かれている。
しかし、スコットの仲間思いは演技だけではなかった。プライドの部下でやり手の女性捜査官、メレディス・ブロディを演じる、ゾーイ・マクラーレンの息子の親権裁判にも、スコットはひと役買ったというのだ。
ゾーイには、離婚した夫で俳優のジャン・ピエール・ジランとの間に、一人息子のセバスチャン君（2歳）がいる。ゾーイは現在、セバスチャン君を、ドラマの撮影地であるニューオーリンズで育てているが、ロサンゼルスに住む元夫にしてみればそれが不満らしい。ニューオーリンズまで息子に会いに行くのは遠すぎるというのだ。さらに元夫は、ゾーイが撮影の間中、セバスチャン君を子守に任せっぱなしであるとも指摘しているという。
言いがかりのような元夫の発言に、待ったをかけたのが、スコット。共演者の一人として親権裁判に出廷したスコットは、「ゾーイの人生は、今までもこれからも、たった一つのことだけに集中しています。それはセバスチャン君の母親であるということです」と証言したのだ。
スコットの真摯な証言が功を奏したのか、親権裁判でゾーイは元夫と合意に達した。その合意には、元夫側のセバスチャン君の養育費として、ゾーイが元夫に月4000ドル（約48万円）支払う条件が含まれているという。
