宇宙を漂流する月の前方に、地球にそっくりな惑星を発見した。一同は、今度こそ永住の地を発見したと希望に胸を膨らませ、コーニッグの指揮のもと、本格的な調査団を送りこんだ。その星は緑に満ち、食用植物も豊富で、まさに理想的な永住地に思えた。しかし、その星には彼らの想像を絶する共住者がいたのだ。
