米で今秋からシーズン11がスタートする「ビッグバン★セオリー ギークなボクらの恋愛法則」に出演中のケイリー・クオコ。視聴率ナンバーワンの超人気シットコムの出演料は、なんと一話当たり90万ドル（約9858万円）だとか。まさにアメリカン・ドリームを実現したケイリーだが、それでもセレブライフはなかなか大変らしい。
「私自身、壊れてはないわ、だけど私たち（スター）は皆、必死なの」と、米メディアのインタビューでスーパースターの悩みを打ち明けたケイリー。ハリウッドでは、人がうらやむ名声と大金を手にしたスターが、薬物やアルコールの依存症になってしまう場合も珍しくない。
「ショービジネスの世界は現実じゃない、ファンタジーなのよ」
スターとして生き残るために踏ん張っても、ファンタジーの世界の足元はフワフワ。時として舞い上がりそうになってしまう。
「私は完全に正常な人間よ。家族のおかげね」と、ケイリーはプカプカしそうな自分をいさめてくれる家族に感謝だ。
しかし、最近ではファンタジーの世界が、一般人の間にも広がってきた。写真共有アプリのインスタグラムの流行だ。普段の生活から背伸びした、“インスタ映え”するお洒落な写真投稿に熱中する人も少なくない。ケイリーはそんな風潮には染まらずにいたいと考えている。
「インスタグラムでは、皆、自分の最高の瞬間を投稿するわけでしょう。その魅力的な写真のために、ちょっぴり“盛る”のよね。だけど、そんなの本当の生活じゃないわ。だから私はできる限り、リアルな写真を投稿している。お洒落とか魅力的だとか、そんなの関係ないと思ってるの」
ケイリーのインスタ（@normancook）をのぞいてみると、愛馬や家族の写真がたくさん。そしてガチすっぴんや昼寝中の一枚も。どんなに飾り気がなくても、ケイリーだとサマになってしまう。それがスーパースターの証なのだろう。
