「レイ・ドノヴァン ザ・フィクサー」主演のリーヴ・シュレイバーが、9月に発表した、女優ナオミ・ワッツとのパートナー関係の解消について初めてその正直な気持ちを明かした。
結婚式さえ挙げてなかったが、事実婚状態だった二人について、激震の一報が流れたのは、9月26日。11年間交際し、二人の間に2児をもうけていた、リーヴとナオミがパートナー関係の解消を発表したのだ。
以降、沈黙を保っていたリーヴが、その重い口を開いたのは米CBSの朝の情報番組でのこと。司会者の女性から、「（関係解消して）生活が変化することは恐ろしいと思いますか？」と尋ねられ、「もちろんだよ」と顔をしかめながら告白。
しかし、パートナー関係は解消してもリーヴとナオミが、子どもたちの父親と母親であることには変わりはない。「僕らには子どもたちがいるんだからね、人生に何が起ころうとも、僕らは（親として）密接な関係で居続けるはずだ。願わくば、ずっとそうであって欲しいし、僕自身、気持ちが変わることはない」と、リーヴは子どもたちのことを思ってだろうか、その口調は強く断定的だ。
長年続いたパートナーとの関係解消に不安なのはナオミも同じ。リーヴのTV出演の数日前、豪紙のインタビューに答えたナオミも「これから起こることは未経験だし、一体どうなるんだろうって恐ろしい気分」と語っている。
独身となったリーヴに、司会者は「誰かデート相手を紹介しましょうか？」とジョークを飛ばしたが、「いえ結構、忙しいから」と、リーヴは愛想笑いもなく却下。
関係解消は自分たちが決めたこととはいえ、不安、そして寂しい気持ちは本音だろう。リーヴにとっても、今年は一層肌寒い冬を過ごすことになりそうだ。
