◆「ヴァンパイア・ダイアリーズ」あの美人女優が婚約の喜び語る
「ヴァンパイア・ダイアリーズ」で主人公エレナの幼馴染キャロラインを演じている、キャンディス・アッコラ（２６歳）が、先月末、交際２年の恋人ジョー・キング（３３歳）と婚約した。愛する男性と、将来に向け歩み始めた喜びを、キャンディスが米エンタメサイトに語っている。
「まだ結婚式のことさえ考えられないわ」とまるで夢心地のキャンディス。今はまだ、家族や友人たちと、婚約の興奮を分かちあっているところだ。
キャンディスが未来の夫となるジョーに出会ったのは、2年前のスーパーボウルのイベント。人気バンド「ザ・フレイ」のギタリストであるジョーのことが気になったものの、キャンディスには自分から仕掛ける勇気がなかった。「私は臆病だから、彼に電話番号を渡すことができなかった。だからニーナ（・ドブレフ）が代わりに渡してくれたのよ」と、当時を思い出しキャンディスは大笑い。番組内で親友を演じる二人が、実生活でも仲の良いところを見せたわけ。キューピット役を自認するニーナも、ツイッターで「もう最高！ あなたたちの婚約に、めちゃくちゃ興奮／ドキドキ／ハッピー／飛び上がりそうな気分」と、二人にお祝いのコメントを送っている。
婚約指輪はヴィンテージ。普段は豪華なジュエリーよりも、ヴィンテージのアクセサリーで個性的にオシャレを楽しむキャンディスの好みに的中だ。「私の友だちに（好みを）聞いて回ったんだと思う」（キャンディス）と、愛をこめて指輪を選んでくれた婚約者にまた惚れ直したよう。
現在は、「ヴァンパイア・ダイアリーズ」シーズン５撮影までしばしの夏休み。キャンディスとジョーにとっては、人生最高にホットな夏を過ごすことになりそうだ。
