CJはロビイストたちと折衝することになるが、その中の一人は以前、歳入委員会のメンバーだったクリフ･キャリーだった。クリフは人を食った態度でCJを憤慨させるが、折衝に立ち会っていたレオは、ジョシュの抜けた穴を埋めるにはクリフが適任だと考える。ワシントンで民主党の大統領候補たちが一堂に集まる式典が開かれ、ジョシュはホワイトハウスに里帰りしようと思い、入館証が無効だったためにたまたま通りがかったトビーを呼びとめて入れてもらおうとするが、トビーは素知らぬ顔で通り過ぎてしまう。
