宝石店で強盗殺人事件が発生。犯人は買い物中、突如として豹変し店員ダニエルを射殺、その時使っていた銃は旅行中の夫婦の家に入った泥棒によって盗まれたものだった。犯人は次々に犯行を繰り返し、幸せな家族を嫌うかのようにその手口は次第に荒くなっていく。
