退職して何もすることのないバート叔父さんが、ミリーたちのアパートに転がり込んで一週間。ミリーもマギーもいささかバートを持て余し気味。ちょうどその時、ビーチャム課長のいとこ、ビール婦人がアメリカから帰ってくる。ビールは人に親切にするのが大好きな女。バートは親切にされたがっている男。年恰好もちょうどいい。ミリーとマギーは課長と協力して２人を引き合わせ、親しくさせようとするが……。
