米国では、5月19日にシーズン３の放送が終了した「ブラックリスト」。クリエーターで、製作総指揮者の一人でもあるジョン・ボーケンキャンプが、進化する「ブラックリスト」について語っている。
「僕の言えることは、番組は進化し続けるということだ。これからも毎週何らかの事件を解決する一話完結型のストーリーになるだろう。だけど僕個人としては、毎週悪い奴を捕まえるよりも、それぞれのキャラクターがどう成長して変わってゆくかに興味があるんだ。シーズン３では、レギュラーキャラクターたちの変化をうまく描けたと思うよ」
シーズン３では、レスラー（ディエゴ・クラテンホフ）がリーダーとしての素質を表し、サマル（モズハン・マーノ）はレディントンとの関係をさらに深めた。トム（ライアン・エッゴールド）も大きな人生の転機を迎えた。
「『ブラックリスト』はレディントンとエリザベスのストーリーではあるけれど、素晴らしい俳優たちを目の前にして、僕は彼らをもっと生かすべきじゃないかと考えている。シーズン４はもっと拡大した世界を描くことになるだろう」
世界が広がるのは、「ブラックリスト」の中だけではない。来春早々にはスピンオフ版「The Blacklist：Redemption」がスタートする。
「ストーリーをいくつか思いついたんだけど、どれも最高だ。スピンオフ版は、ある意味、『ブラックリスト』と同じDNAを持っている。その一方でスピンオフ版独自の世界を構築することになるとも言えるんだ。『ブラックリスト』を見たことのない人にも見てもらえるような番組にしたいと考えている」
「ブラックリスト」には、脚本執筆にも積極的に関わるボーケンキャンプだが、スピンオフ版にどこまで関われるか、まだ決めかねているという。
中盤から終盤にかけて、ストーリーがダイナミックに揺れ動いた「ブラックリスト」シーズン３。変化を恐れぬ男、ボーケンキャンプがその世界をどう変えるか？新たな興奮が加わるスピンオフ版と共に、「ブラックリスト」ファンにとっては、待ちきれない新シーズンとなりそうだ。
