「ボディ・オブ・プルーフ／死体の証言」で、刑事さながらに犯罪解決に熱意を燃やす、検視官ミーガン・ハントを演じた、女優ダナ・デラニーが、米ロサンゼルス郊外サンタモニカの自宅近くで立てこもり事件に遭遇した。遠巻きに見守る一般人に混じって、ダナが事件発生時からの状況を克明にツイッターで報告している。
立てこもり事件が発生したのは、米時間2月21日の正午過ぎ。別件の殺人事件でマークされていた男が、アパートに立てこもったとの一報が警察に入り、すぐに地元警察と保安官、そしてSWATチームが現場に集結した。早速、ダナは「SWATチームがうちの近所に来てるわよ」と、つぶやき開始。その後も「まるで『羅生門』状態。誰もが自分の視点から事件を語り始めてる」やら「警察はずっと待機中」などのつぶやき、さらには映像まで発信する徹底ぶりだ。しかしそんな粘りにもかかわらず、ダナのツイッター中継は最悪のタイミングで終わりを迎えることになる。数時間後にSWATチームが催涙ガスを使って突入し、立てこもり犯を確保した際、ダナのスマホのバッテリーが切れて終了を余儀なくされたのだ。事件記者顔負けの好奇心を披露しものの、さすがにプロのように予備のバッテリーを用意するまでには至らなかったらしい。
それでもダナは、よほど事件に興奮したらしく、その後も「あのSWATチームの中に『ボディ・オブ・プルーフ／死体の証言』で一緒だった隊員はいなかったのかしら…」などの、関連つぶやきを連発している。今回の一件が、ダナの次回作にインスピレーションを与える、なんてことはないだろうか？
