米CBSが、「メンタリスト」シーズン７の放送継続を決めたことが分かった。これまで米で６シーズン放送された「メンタリスト」は、豪俳優サイモン・ベイカー主演の人気犯罪解決ドラマ。生き残りが難しい米TV界において、根強いファンに支えられ、シーズンを重ねてきた。
本作の次シーズンへの継続は50％の確率と予想されていた。しかし、シーズン６後半で新しい展開を見せたことで、CBS側が好感を持ち、今回の決断となったようだ。
またこの決定の前に、米エンタメサイトのインタビューで、サイモン演じる“メンタリスト”パトリック・ジェーンの良き相棒リズボン役を務めるロビン・タニーが、サイモンとの関係についてこう語っている。
「これまでの間に、サイモンと私は、お互い腹を立てたり、憎しみ合った時もあった。だけど段々と彼のことを人間として好きになってきたの。リズボンを演じる時、とてもリラックスしてると感じるのは、彼と働くのが本当に楽しいと思っているから。こうして人間の絆って強まっていくんだと思うわ。この６年の間に、こんな関係を身を持って経験できるなんて、これがTVシリーズの素晴らしいところよね」
新展開が予想されるシーズン７では、さらにジェーンとリズボンの関係にも進展が？ファンにとっては、待ち遠しいシーズンとなりそうだ。
