◆「ゴシップガール」メキシコ版の放送決まる 舞台はアカプルコ！
ニューヨーク・マンハッタンを舞台にヤングセレブたちのグラマラス・ライフを描いて全世界的に人気の「ゴシップガール」に、メキシコ版「ゴシップガール・アカプルコ」が誕生することがわかった。ロサンゼルス・タイムズ紙が伝えたもので、中国版「チャイナ・ガール」に続く二番目の「ゴシップガール」フランチャイズとなる。
メキシコ版「ゴシップガール」の舞台は、世界的なビーチリゾート地アカプルコ。シティライフが満喫できるニューヨークとは街の趣きが異なるだけでなく、アカプルコは近年犯罪の急増しているエリアと同紙は指摘している。麻薬がらみの抗争が増えているメキシコの中でも、アカプルコの犯罪率は高いのだ。
しかし、「ゴシップガール・アカプルコ」のプロデューサー、ペドロ・トレス氏は、そんな疑問もどこ吹く風。むしろ、この番組を通して、アカプルコの美しさを伝え、観光客の増加につながることを期待しているという。「ゴシップガール・アカプルコ」のストーリーやキャラクター設定は、オリジナル版を踏襲、「（オリジナルの）本質的なテイストを失わずに、トロピカルなムードを加えたい」とトレス氏は話している。
すでに一部で公開されている「ゴシップガール・アカプルコ」のプレビューを見る限り、ソフィア（オリジナル版ではセリーナ・ヴァンダーウッドセン）、マックス（同チャック・バス）ら主要キャラは、オリジナルに負けず劣らずゴージャス。放送開始は７月だが、すでにメキシコのソーシャルメディアでは話題沸騰だとか。スペイン語ドラマの強い米国でも放送が検討されており、放送が始まれば、注目を浴びることは間違いなさそうだ。
「ゴシップガール」がニューヨーク、特にファッションシーンを活気づけたように、「ゴシップガール・アカプルコ」が、同エリアの再興につながることを願いたいものだ。
