海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.620 　「LAW & ORDER」のジェレミー・シスト、娘の改姓を嘆く

LAWO_yr20_＃435(20-2)42_TV_LAN20_E8803_0281.JPG「LAW & ORDER」シーズン18から3シーズンに渡り、サイラス・ルーポ刑事役でレギュラー出演していたジェレミー・シスト。「シックス・フィート・アンダー」「FBI: 特別捜査班」など米TVドラマ、コメディに多数出演しているTVスターだ。
ジェレミーの苗字、シストはイタリア系に多い名前だという。ジェレミーの父親でジャズ・ミュージシャン、リチャード・シストの家系をたどれば、イタリアからの移民にいきつくのかもしれない。
そのジェレミーが、TVのトーク番組で娘のチャーリーさんがシスト姓を変更したと明かしている。
 
変更後の姓は、レーン。ジェレミーの妻でチャーリーさんの母親はアディ・レーンさんだ。夫婦別姓が認められた米国では、夫婦の姓が異なることも珍しくない。娘のチャーリーさんは、新しく母親の姓を選んだわけだ。
ティーンエイジャーのチャーリーさん、自我も確立されるお年頃。
「クールな姓がいいと思っているんだろうね。僕の妻の姓がレーンだから、彼女の名前はチャーリー・レーンだ。今も昔も色褪せない名前だし、ストリート・ネームみたいでもある」
何事も“クール優先”のティーンエイジャーらしい発想だ。父親に対する反抗心もチラリ。
「僕のことが恥ずかしいのかもね」と、ジェレミーはちょっぴり寂しい父親の顔をのぞかせる。
とはいえ、チャーリーさんにとってジェレミーは自慢の父親に違いない。チャーリーさんは、同世代のティーンエイジャーが活躍する「ストレンジャー・シングス 未知の世界」にはまり、女優を目指すようになったのだとか。憧れの世界で活躍する父親に最大限の敬意を払っているはずだ。
 
チャーリー・シストか、チャーリー・レーンか。どちらの姓を選んだとしても、父ジェレミーの娘を愛する気持ちに変わりはない。誰よりも女優チャーリーを応援するつもりだ。
