海外ドラマ最新レポート Vol.533 　第75回エミー賞授賞式が延期に

今年9月に開催予定だった第75回エミー賞授賞式が延期されることが分かった。
ハリウッドの俳優組合(SAG-AFTRA)と脚本家組合(WGA)のストライキにより、授賞式にスター及び脚本家らの参加が見込めなくなったことが理由。新日程は、2024年1月15日に予定されている。
 
長引くストライキが米TV界一のお祭り行事に水を指した。5月から始まった脚本家組合のストライキは8月で100日を突破。ようやく映画TVプロデューサー同盟(AMPTP)との話し合いが行われ、大きな一歩を踏み出したものの、収束にはまだ時間がかかるとされている。一方、7月からストライキを開始した俳優組合は今も先行き不透明。ベテラン俳優のブライアン・コックス(「メディア王 ～華麗なる一族～」)は、「ストライキは年末まで続く」とも話している。
エミー賞の新日程は綱渡りの決断だったに違いない。ハリウッドは12月から2月にかけてが授賞式シーズン。エミー賞だけでなく、TV関連だけでも、ゴールデングローブ賞、SAG賞などさまざまな授賞式が主に週末に組み込まれている。
 
ホリデーシーズンも明けた1月には、各スタジオでも撮影が再開される。名誉の授賞式とはいえ、現行の仕事の邪魔にならないようにスケジュールが組まれるのが通例なのだ。
1月最初の日曜日(7日)にはゴールデングローブ賞、次の14日にはクリティクス・チョイス・アワードが開催予定。今回のエミー賞はその翌日の月曜日、キング牧師記念日の祝日に行われる。連日の授賞式に、ノミネートされたスター、クリエーターたちは大忙しの週末を過ごすことになるはずだ。
 
とはいえ、俳優組合のストライキが年末で収束すると決まったわけでもない。米国では彼らに刺激を受けたかのように各地で市職員、ホテル従業員などがより良い待遇を求めストライキを起こしている。どのように終止符が打たれるのか、その行方を米国民が見守っている。
