ロニーとジョーはあるホテルの一室に呼ばれる。ベッドは血だらけで明らかに何か事件が起きたと思われるのだが、そこに遺体はない。ロニーたちは、部屋の利用者が身分証明に使ったクレジットカード情報から、チャールズ・ハットンという男性にたどりつくが、ホテル経営者が目撃した男性とは年齢も見た目もかけ離れていた。
